Time for Christmas Cheer

Congrats to our Christmas Cheer Choir as they share their talents with more than nine Senior Centres in the Mississauga Community. We are very proud of the good work done by our generous and talented members. Their program includes both Christmas Music and beloved classics. Our thanks to music director Ann Wright and Producer Liz Allen. You  make CMT proud as we continue our mandate to entertain Mississauga. Well Done!

On another note, please pencil in Saturday December 28th, as CMT holds its annual Christmas wine and cheese. Our thanks to the Roose family for sharing their home with us. This event begins at 7:30. Members will be getting an email with address and details.

Finally, a last congratulations to the wonderful cast of Legally Blonde. You out did yourselves in the performance of eight near sold out shows. Audiences and critics loved your work. We are so proud of your work. Hope to see you again soon in another Clarkson Event. Next Up: "Ya Gotta Dream" - concert May 9 and 10 at Eden United Church. Legally Blonde - the Musical hits Meadowvale; Christmas!; Spring Concert Auditions

Hello Friends of Clarkson Music Theatre. We've moved into Meadowvale Theatre in readiness for the opening of Legally Blonde - the Musical (presenting Nov.15,16, 17 (2 p.m.),21, 22, 23 (2 shows), 24 (2 p.m.) . OMG!!! Amazing 2 storey sets are built; Props from turkey legs to pink lap tops are assembled; Moving Lights are programmed (pink of course); Sound cues and audience announcements are taped; Our two pooches (Princess- the Chihuahua- and Zoey - the pug) are ready to upstage everybody; and the most amazing, talented cast of Legally Blonde are totally pumped to share all they've learned under the inspiring tutelage of Renee Beiforte (director / choreographer) and Jenny Peace (music Director). Be sure to get your tickets at www.mtix.ca. This one's special! 

Kudos to our Christmas Choir who are set to present their jolly holly repertoire to senior centres in the Mississauga Area. We applaud all your hard work and can't wait for you to get us into the Christmas spirit. Thank you to your lovely music director Ann Wright and your producer Liz Allan. Break legs!

Finally, dates have been set for you to audition for the spring concert: "Ya Gotta Dream - Clarkson sings songs to wonder, to dream, to celebrate". This inspiring show under the direction of Bob Hardinge goes up at Eden United Church (Battleford and Winston Churchill) on May 9 and May 10 (2 shows)... with time left for you to devote your Sunday to Mother's Day. If you wish to audition for a featured role in this event, e-mail ritaferguson20@gmail.com. Auditions are in the afternoon of Sunday December 8th. Auditioners will sing a song of their choice - bring your accompaniment for our Robin Dalgleish to play. Rehearsals for this event will be on Wednesdays at Christ Church and start in January. We hope many of you Clarkson Members will join us in making beautiful music.

Rehearsals beginning soon for the Christmas Choir and for Legally Blonde

  • Greetings Clarkson Members past and present. We are pleased to announce that CMT invites you to become a member of our Christmas Choir. Last year's choir presented its concert to more than eight Senior Centres and Retirement homes in the Mississauga and Oakville area. This is an opportunity especially aimed at those of you who are not involved in our fall production (Legally Blonde).  Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays, starting on Sept.11th, at Christ Church (1700 Mazo Crescent) in the small chapel (as we've done in the past). Our amazing team consists of Ann Wright as Director, Catherine Ambrose as pianist; produced by Liz Allan. If you any concerns or questions, you can call your producer (Liz Allan) at 905 569-0880 .  If you wish to save your spot in this group, and to ensure we have adequate seating and music, please RSVP to this email by Labour Day. 

  • If you are cast in Legally Blonde, you can expect to receive an email shortly regarding your fall rehearsal schedule. Remember to send your conflicts to Glenn Pringle (his contact info was sent to you directly).


  • Remember, that in both events, your membership fees are due ($30 single and $40 family).

Report from your AGM June 2013

Thanks to those who came out to our Annual General Meeting which was held on June 17th at Christ Church. Here's some highlights:

  • CMT was pleased to honour Brittni Kenny with our second annual Performing Arts Scholarship. Brittni is an honours student, with special skills in dance, performance and vocals. She has performed extensively both at Cawthra School of Performing Arts and in other venues. We wish her well as she goes on to study performing arts at Sheridan's Music Theatre Program. Congratulations Brittni.

  • Lifetime Membership was awarded to Pat Mack and Joyce Forth who have been members of Clarkson for twenty five years. Their loyalty was rewarded at the AGM with plaques and a gift, awarded by their fellow Lifetime Members - Ruth McDonald and Liz Allan.

  • A change to the Bi-Laws was successfully proposed and accepted by the membership. This will better facilitate Mississauga city's requirements regarding the timing of our audited financials, our membership lists, etc. Henceforth, our Annual General Meeting will be held in and around the month of September.
  • A Membership Karaoke Social is planned for July 26th at the Irish Club. Please RSVP your intention to attend to christinemcm@gmail.com so that we can confirm numbers and go ahead with this event. RSVP by July 1st.

CMT AGM June 17 Room 23 / Casting the Fall Show

Greetings CMT friends and members. This is a last reminder for you to attend the Annual General Meeting held at Christ Church on June 17th at 7:30 in Room 23. We will be voting to move the date of our AGM from June to September in the future (in order to better meet some of the requirements laid out by the City of Mississauga regarding charitable status etc.). Also, we will be honouring our newest lifetime achievement members, awarding the winner of Clarkson's Annual Performing Arts Scholarship, appointing members to the CMT Board and celebrating this extraordinary year!

We are thrilled by the sheer talent that came out to audition for our fall show. Thanks to all those involved in this momentous undertaking. This cast will blow you away! - even our very sweet pooches who came out to audition! Our title can Legally be identified in just a few more days. Clarkson Music Theatre would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who came out to celebrate the MTM Celebration of Artistry - in honour of the Encore Series. Each musical from the season presented a couple of songs. Mame showcased "Gooch's Song" and "Bosum Buddies" - each of which was recognized for a Musical Moment Award. We also congratulate our Best Males (Derek Faulconer and Mackenzie Faulkner), Best Females (Leslie Carney, Katie Westrope and Christine McMahon), our Design Award for program (Louise Ferguson) and our Tech Award for lighting (Tristan Tidswell). The Susan Horner Award for Most Helpful Cast member went to Kat Cordi and Leslie Carney. Congrats also to Susan Pringle (Board of Director's Award) and to Sean Moore and Paul Berdusco (Scott Shepherd Award). Thank You again to the entire cast, crew and team for your part in making Mame such a pleasure.

Deserving thanks also goes out to our cast, crew, team and audience of "To Hollywood, Love Broadway" which was a resounding success... We look forward to our next spring concert in 2014 when we hope to see many of you return as cast or audience.

Auditions!

  • Auditions are being accepted for our Fall Show, which cannot be "Legally" identified... 
  • Please email ritaferguson@cogeco.ca for your 5 minute audition time slot on May 27, 28 or 29. 
  • All participants must audition with a one minute comedic monologue and an appropriate song (1 verse and chorus only). 
  • The Call Back and mandatory Dance Call for dancers is at 10 am on June 1st, followed by the Principal Call Back (song / cold reading). 
  • Prospective principals will be advised of their call back on May 30th. 
  • You might want to research the following songs which will be used in the call back:

ACTCO News, Hollywood, MTM and Scholarship reminders

On April 6th, the best of ACTCO was celebrated at the Borgata Hall... We filled two tables, and were joined by equal numbers from Meadowvale and City Centre Music Productions. Congratulations to all three members of the Encore Series for their work in The Who's Tommy (CCMP), Crazy for You (Meadowvale) and Mame (Clarkson Music Theatre ). Mame was proud to have been recognized in three nominations: Congrats for your nominations: Mackenzie Faulkner (Male in a Supporting Role), Greg Salisbury (Sound Design) and Leslie Carney (Best Performance , Female, in a Leading Role).  We hope to see all our Mamers and CMT fans out to support us when we hit the stage on May 4/5 at Eden United Church for "To Hollywood, Love Broadway", and to celebrate the season one last time at the MTM Celebration of Artistry Evening on May 10th.
